About the event
The Hessel Museum of Art at CCS Bard presents Stan Douglas: Ghostlight, a sweeping and urgent retrospective of one of the most innovative and critically acclaimed artists of our time. Running from June 21 to November 30, 2025, this exhibition marks Douglas’s first U.S. survey in over two decades, showcasing nearly 40 works that explore systems of power, memory, and history through multidisciplinary practices.
Central to the exhibition is the North American premiere of Birth of a Nation (2025)—a monumental, multi-channel video installation revisiting D.W. Griffith’s infamous 1915 film, recontextualized through the lens of resistance, racial history, and collective reimagination.
