About the event
From May 2 through June 21, 2025, Luhring Augustine Tribeca hosts Wish Maker, the highly anticipated solo exhibition of Salman Toor—his first major presentation in New York since the critically acclaimed How Will I Know at the Whitney Museum in 2020. Installed across both the Chelsea and Tribeca galleries, this dual-site show features new paintings in Chelsea and, for the first time, a full exhibition of Toor’s works on paper in Tribeca.
Toor’s figurative style is instantly recognizable—languid figures cast in jewel-toned greens, living in allegorical tension between public and private life, liberation and confinement, identity and misrecognition. He renders the beauty and unease of queer existence with lush intimacy, humor, and a poetic sense of longing.
Expect a narrative world where:
Fantasy meets diaspora
Historical style merges with Gen-Z aesthetics
Emotions are palpable and bodies are vulnerable
