September 10 – October 25, 2025Pace Gallery, 540 West 25th Street, New York, NY
This fall, Robert Longo takes over every floor of Pace Gallery’s New York flagship with The Weight of Hope—a sweeping, floor-by-floor exhibition of large-scale hyperrealistic drawings, films, and studies created from 2014 to 2025. Curated by Margaret Andera of the Milwaukee Art Museum, this monumental presentation will stretch across the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th floors of the gallery.
Known for translating news photography, protest imagery, and media events into intensely detailed black-and-white compositions, Longo’s newest works confront the turbulence of recent American history—from the January 6th Capitol attack to the Black Lives Matter movement. The Weight of Hope is a visceral meditation on political unrest, societal trauma, and the fragile endurance of optimism in a divided world.
This exhibition follows Longo’s acclaimed The Acceleration of History at the Milwaukee Art Museum, building on his commitment to making art that does not look…
