About the event
Innovators & Icons presents an eclectic mix of innovative and iconic works that showcase the full range of ballet artistry. The evening begins with Alexei Ratmansky's inventive Voices, which features five female dancers performing intricate solos to a unique Peter Ablinger score. The music, an experimental blend of recordings of six notable women speaking in various languages, is overlaid with live solo piano, creating a dynamic and thought-provoking performance.
Next, Jerome Robbins' In Memory of… casts a haunting spell, reflecting the emotional nuances of Alban Berg’s violin concerto. Robbins’ signature choreography is paired with the modernist sounds of Berg to create a deeply emotional and atmospheric piece.
The evening concludes with Balanchine’s Diamonds, one of his most exquisite displays of classical dance. Set to Tschaikovsky’s The Diamond Waltz, Diamonds is a tribute to the regality of late 19th- and early 20th-century ballet, exemplified by the work of Marius Petipa. The ballet is a…
