About the event
Eclectic NYCB I brings together four distinct works that highlight the versatility and creativity of contemporary ballet.
Signs: Choreographed by Gianna Reisen, this 21-minute ballet was originally created for the School of American Ballet’s 2022 Workshop Performances. Set to music by Philip Glass, Signs explores themes of intimacy and connection through its tender movements.
Zakouski: Peter Martins' 1992 creation is a lively ballet for two dancers, set to four short violin and piano pieces by Russian composers. The title, meaning "hors d'oeuvres" in Russian, reflects the ballet's playful and varied nature.
Red Angels: Ulysses Dove's 1994 work is an abstract piece for four dancers, set to Richard Einhorn’s "Maxwell’s Demon" performed on electric violin. The ballet's intense energy and striking visuals make it a powerful addition to the program.
