About the event
Contemporary Choreography III showcases the exciting and innovative works that continue to shape ballet in the 21st century. This program exemplifies the NYCB’s ongoing commitment to supporting choreographers who push the boundaries of dance.
Opening the program is Alexei Ratmansky’s Concerto DSCH, a vibrant and exuberant ballet set to Shostakovich’s music. Known for its zest and infectious energy, Concerto DSCH remains one of Ratmansky’s most intoxicating works for NYCB.
Next, Lar Lubovitch’s Each In Their Own Time explores romantic rapture between two male dancers, set to the lyrical piano music of Johannes Brahms. The ballet captures an intimate and emotional journey through beautifully sculpted movement.
Distant Cries, created by Edwaard Liang in 2005, presents a captivating pas de deux of quiet intensity and emotional ambiguity. Set to the music of baroque composer Albinoni, this piece explores the nuances of longing and connection.
