Contemporary Choreography II offers a dynamic evening that celebrates the cutting edge of dance, featuring a world premiere by Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, along with works by NYCB's Resident Choreographer Justin Peck and Gianna Reisen.
The program opens with Ratmansky's new ballet, a world premiere that promises to showcase his distinctive voice in contemporary ballet. Justin Peck's Dig the Say follows, a playful pas de deux that features competitive solos and the occasional exchange of a red rubber ball, highlighting the dynamic energy between its two dancers. Peck’s Everywhere We Go brings a larger-scale work, a vibrant ballet for 25 dancers set to the evocative music of Sufjan Stevens. This piece has become one of Peck's most popular works, combining his signature choreographic style with Stevens’ atmospheric compositions.
Rounding out the evening is Gianna Reisen’s Signs, a ballet for five couples set to Philip Glass’s solo piano score. The ballet’s quiet lyricism…
