To celebrate the tenth anniversary of its new building, the Whitney Museum presents Mary Heilmann: Long Line, a radiant, site-specific installation that blends sculpture, painting, and design into a playful space of visual joy and public engagement.
Anchored by an oversized hand-painted adaptation of Heilmann’s 2020 work Long Line, the exhibition also features a range of her signature sculptural chairs, offering visitors a chance to relax, reflect, and interact with art in unexpected ways. Drawing from the rhythms of the Hudson River and waves crashing along the coasts of Long Island and California, the piece brings together geometric minimalism with a 1960s countercultural flair.
