About the event
Homeroom is an ongoing program at MoMA PS1 dedicated to amplifying the work of artists engaged through the museum’s collaborator and partnership initiatives. Located in a former classroom, Homeroom embraces PS1’s dual legacies—as the first public school in Long Island City and a longstanding site for radical artistic experimentation since its founding in 1976.
Each installation in Homeroom is authored by an invited artist or collective, making the space a living archive of community voices and experimental practices. With each activation, Homeroom becomes a site of connection, reflection, and reimagination—a room for learning and unlearning, for storytelling and solidarity.
Program features:
Artist-led installations and activations rooted in reciprocity, care, and collaboration
A rotating exhibition space for partnership-based projects and community initiatives
Evokes the educational and social legacy of the museum’s architecture
