About the event
Event Overview
From May 1 to August 1, 2025, Hauser & Wirth New York, 22nd Street presents William Kentridge: A Natural History of the Studio—a rare and immersive exhibition that opens the door to the artist’s most introspective project to date. At the heart of the presentation is Kentridge’s acclaimed film series Self-Portrait as a Coffee-Pot, shown here in full for the first time alongside more than seventy drawings and a suite of sculptures, prints, and video works that together animate the psychological, political, and material life of the artist’s studio.
This is Kentridge’s first exhibition with Hauser & Wirth in New York, spanning two floors of the gallery’s West 22nd Street building and extending to its 18th Street location with a complementary survey of his printmaking practice.
