From May 1 to August 1, 2025, Hauser & Wirth New York, 22nd Street hosts Francis Picabia: Eternal Beginning—the first major exhibition dedicated to the radical final years of the French avant-garde master. Organized in collaboration with the Comité Picabia and co-curated by its president Beverley Calté with art historian Arnauld Pierre, this landmark show brings together over 20 rare paintings created between 1945 and 1952, many on view in New York for the first time.
Arriving from a celebrated run in Paris, this exhibition explores Picabia’s postwar return to abstraction, his fascination with layered surfaces, Romanesque motifs, and his evolution alongside the burgeoning Art Informel movement. This period marks a significant reinvention—where Picabia’s restless energy, visual language, and philosophical engagement reached an intense, exploratory peak.
