About the event
Opening October 3, 2025, Tehching Hsieh at Dia Beacon marks the first comprehensive retrospective of a singular figure in performance art. Known for his radical endurance-based works—living locked in a cage for a year, clocking in every hour around the clock, abstaining from art entirely, and more—Hsieh transformed time into his medium, testing human will, routine, and meaning in ways no artist ever had.
