About the event
Opening July 19, 2025, Kishio Suga presents a rare and commanding collection of works that span from the 1960s to the mid-1990s—each one a study in impermanence, logic, and the quiet rebellion of matter.
Known for his role in Japan’s Mono-ha movement, Suga’s practice defies assumptions about material essence. Concrete, wax, steel, and stone are not just objects here—they are participants in a fragile, fluid choreography, held together by tension, gravity, and the artist’s refusal to offer a clear answer.
This exhibition, drawn from Dia’s collection and key international loans, is uniquely activated by the architectural contours of Dia Beacon, giving each sculpture a site-specific voice. And for the first time outside Japan, Suga’s elusive film Being and Murder (1999) will be screened—adding cinematic resonance to his spatial poetics.
A visit to Kishio Suga is not passive observation—it’s participation in a conceptual riddle. Let VIP NYC Transfers deliver you into this space with elegance, discretion,…
