About the event
Event Overview
From November 13 to 16, 2025, the New York Philharmonic invites audiences to Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall for a vibrant program that celebrates innovation, rhythm, and imagination—spanning genres and centuries with bold artistic flair.
The evening begins with a World Premiere by Caroline Mallonee, co-commissioned as part of the NY Phil’s Project 19, an initiative spotlighting contemporary women composers. The centerpiece of the program features Grammy-winning violinist Nicola Benedetti in Wynton Marsalis’s jazz-inflected Violin Concerto, written expressly for her—a work that fuses technical brilliance with the soul of American improvisation.
The performance concludes with Stravinsky’s Petrushka (1911 original version), a dazzling, whimsical ballet score that tells the tale of puppets come to life in a carnival setting. Its rich orchestration and vibrant rhythms showcase Stravinsky at his most inventive—and the NY Phil at its most dynamic.
