Event Overview From May 27 to May 30, 2026, witness an unforgettable fusion of youth, mastery, and emotional depth as Sheku Kanneh-Mason — the Philharmonic’s Artist-in-Residence — performs Elgar’s Cello Concerto, a cornerstone of the cello repertoire brimming with longing and introspection. Known for his sincere expressiveness and global artistry, Sheku brings an unmistakable humanity to this iconic work.


On the podium, Elim Chan leads the New York Philharmonic with brilliance and finesse through a strikingly colorful program. Audiences will be introduced to Noriko Koide’s Swaddling Silk and Gossamer Rain in its New York Premiere, an atmospheric piece that shimmers with fragility and wonder. The evening continues with Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suite, a lush and imaginative orchestral adaptation of the classic ballet, revealing a world of magical textures and playful contrasts rarely heard in the concert hall.
