About the event
Event Overview
From October 3 to 5, 2025, Esa-Pekka Salonen returns to the New York Philharmonic to conduct a radiant program blending impressionist color with avant-garde precision, presented at the Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall.
This special engagement honors the centennial of composer Pierre Boulez, pairing his visionary orchestrations with selections from his Notations for solo piano—performed by acclaimed French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, one of the foremost interpreters of 20th-century and contemporary repertoire. The program also features Debussy’s Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, a work of elegance and lyricism, alongside two atmospheric dances from Images and the immersive, oceanic power of La Mer.
This performance is a celebration of sound, movement, and the dialogue between tradition and transformation—brought to life by two of the greatest musical minds of our time.
