About the event
Event Overview Brace yourself for a spellbinding evening at Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall, where Gianandrea Noseda returns to conduct two titanic works of classical music. From January 7–10, 2026, the New York Philharmonic presents a program of raw emotional power and symphonic grandeur.
Pianist Behzod Abduraimov, described by The Independent as “the most perfectly accomplished pianist of his generation,” takes center stage for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 — a dazzling display of thunderous force and lyrical elegance. Following this, Noseda leads the Philharmonic in Shostakovich’s Fourth Symphony — a brooding, epic journey through human struggle, artistic defiance, and triumph through sheer orchestral power.
Program
Tchaikovsky – Piano Concerto No. 1
Shostakovich – Symphony No. 4
