Event Overview From March 12 to March 17, 2026, the New York Philharmonic presents a bold and historic musical journey at Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall. Visionary conductor Gustavo Dudamel takes the podium for a program that unites revolution and reinvention — echoing both the spirit of the American people and the timeless power of art to drive change.
To honor the 250th anniversary of the United States, the program opens with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”, a defiant ode to heroic idealism and the reshaping of the symphonic form itself.
The centerpiece is the World Premiere of an orchestral reimagining of Frederic Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated, an NY Phil commission reworked through the lenses of multiple contemporary composers — including Tania León, Conrad Tao, Maria Schneider, Joel Thompson, and others.
