About the event
Event Overview Step into the refined world of Mozart with one of today’s most celebrated violinists. On January 2 and 3, 2026, the New York Philharmonic welcomes the return of Gil Shaham to the Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall, where he will not only perform but lead the Orchestra in a radiant all-Mozart evening.
Shaham, hailed as “a virtuoso and a player of deeply intense sincerity” (The New York Times), curates and commands a program brimming with melodic beauty and lyrical intimacy. From the poised charm of the Violin Concerto No. 2, through the meditative Adagio in E major and the sparkling Rondo in C major, to the vivacious Violin Concerto No. 5, Turkish, this program is a heartfelt journey through Mozart’s signature brilliance.
This is not just a concert — it’s an invitation to witness musical storytelling where the violin becomes both protagonist and narrator, led by one of the instrument’s most profound interpreters.
