Set your sights on the open sea for one of sailing’s greatest and rarest adventures—the Transatlantic Race 2025, departing Wednesday, June 18 from Newport, Rhode Island, bound for the southern coast of England.
Co-organized by the New York Yacht Club and Royal Ocean Racing Club, with support from the Royal Yacht Squadron and Storm Trysail Club, this Corinthian offshore epic traces its lineage to the 1866 Great Ocean Race, where three yachts raced from New York to the Isle of Wight for a staggering $90,000 purse.
In its 32nd edition, the 2025 race revives this incredible tradition:
Teams will navigate the full force of the North Atlantic—from brutal gales to high-pressure systems and shifting winds
The route includes a virtual gate off Lizard Point, enabling teams to challenge the course record, before finishing beneath the Royal Yacht Squadron’s historic waterfront castle in Cowes
